I am a 15 year old bodybuilder and live in a little town in Cumbria in England. I have been training on and off for the last year and have put some good muscle on.I have only just started being really serious about my training with diet etc. I think I look better than most of the young bodybuilders on your web site and I would like to send you some pics to see what you think! My back is getting a lot wider than ever before. The only muscle that doesn't grow as good as the others is my biceps - everthing else is good proportion and right size!

I would appreciate it if you replied and I will send you some pics. Thanks a lot!

Sam Jackson

How and why I started. Progress to now.

When I first started bodybuilding I was quite skinny at about 9st, now I am 11st.7, I know some of the weight will be from growing taller and as I am still very young.

Any way thanks for your reply! I would like to have a part within your site. I have attatched a couple of photos to this email which were taken a couple of months back, but will get some new ones taken and will send them in. I have
recently started shredding up (burning all the body fat) as I have not done yet and have been just putting lean muscle on, so I can see what muscle has been built.

Jeremy at 14, not Sam. Jeremy was a lot leaner, or more "cut" as you can see, even at 14.

The page is a combined effort. The training suggestions below relate to teens up to 15 or so, or initially ANY teen new to training. In other words don't run until you can walk!

The pages most useful to you are the beginner article, and the one on abs, since that is the area you want to work on first. The abs are very important for posture and for general body form for twists and turns. Bear in mind that there are alternative exercises there. You are NOT expected to do all of them! Soccer players need strong upper and inner leg muscles too. It is useful to make up an inclined board too. See Routines page too.

Sam with a barbell, curling. Note also he has a weights belt as well. This is for back support when squatting, pressing overhead etc. Sam says his bicep development is a disappointment, but you can see here that his arm musculature is progressing elsewhere! See also below.

Sergey Litvinov at 19 - 4 years older than Sam.

Remember that Sergei (19 in the pic) has been training seriously since early teens. You can't get a solid bod like his overnight. Check also the younger Alexey Wolf for a closer comparison.

Here left. That looks like a great deltoid and upper arm!

Below left. Showing solid lats

Below right. Showing good lat symmetry and serratus. They hold the shoulder blades in position. Pecs lagging at the time.

Biceps comment

Uk Teens Group.

If Biceps are trailing, then switch exercises, perhaps on an inclined bench. This allows a fuller range. Also perhaps preacher curls - the arms cannot "swing" the weight in this exercise.

Jan 2006 I'm liking my biceps a bit more now, Ive been using my preacher curls bench for my main exercise for a bicep work out, along with dumbell curls etc.

My training history.

Personally I want to stay a natural bodybuilder but lots of people at the gym are using steroids.

Jan 2006 Now its come New Year I am really getting down to training, and hopefully at the end of 2006 start to compete or in 2007. Im probably going to go for the Junior Mr Cumbria.

At home I also have a weights bench with leg attatchment, preacher curls bench, and too much free weight mostly in the shed now though.

I train my legs at the gym on Fridays where there is a couple of racks and Smith machines for squats and all the other leg exercise machines.

Add more exercises for the pecs for a few weeks as well Sam. The triceps pose below suggests they are lagging somewhat. Also, can we see your legs next time please?

Two extra shots.

To Contact Sam

Lat Spread taken late 2005 I think. Sam has not confirmed this. Symmetry is good, though he seems a little distracted, hence the right shoulder is a little lower here.

Sam Comments see pic below.

These are some pics taken of my legs! As you will see they're nothing special as I didn't really train them as hard as I should have last year! However I have set realistic targets for training now, as before I never did. That's probably why I didn't get the gains I wanted! lol

Any way won't be sending any more till later this year when hopefully I will have made some gains/progress!

Looking for similar members now training. Mail the webmaster please.

Sam isn't fully tensed here, but we can see the quads are just beginning to show and calves look well too. A second shot shows them too, but is not included here.

Note the EZ type bar with quite a considerable loading! I'm interested in what exercise and how many reps that was for! Also note the "Preacher" bench to the right. The arm rest is adjustable - most important to get the height right. This bench allows isolation of the arms and no cheating. It is useful to have a "spotter" when using heavy weights on this bench. Gyms often have a catch rack in front of this apparatus.

I see you was wondering what exercises I was doing with the ez bar loaded with that weight (60kg), It was shoulder presses standing up. I find the grip better on one of them bars right at the end rarther than a normal barbell. I am getting a lot stronger rarther than putting on more muscle I think this is probably because I have been training with heavy weight and low reps for the last couple of months.

About 6 months ago I started a strength training study for p.e and then I could deadlift 110kg and now I can do 165kg, but I have been practicing technique as well etc.

Sam has added info early 2006.

New poses here now.
