The pic to the left is of Adam Rickitt. He was brought into a UK "soap" as a teen hunk. He has also been pushed as a pop star. Whatever the merits of those, he had a good physique at the time, allegedly "natural"!

Tom (16) Re junior pages.

Tom has made a great deal of progress in the 17 months he has been training. I hope that shortly he will share some workout routines and other data with us. I consider it very useful to share information, since users can help each other out, even if they are on different continents!

Rockie's pags here now

Hi guys I am Rockie, a 15 year old fitness freak from India.Bodybuilding is my favorite hobby, a year ago just before I started I looked like a skeleton, I wasn't really picked upon in school but I was often made fun of because of my frame. I weighed a mere 105 lbs! That's when I decided to try bodybuilding and I'm hooked on to it ever since. I've been one of the most regulars at the gym and even though I'm the youngest guy lifting weights there, I'm one of the stronger ones.

For me all my dedication, motivation and intensity has given me great results, my arms went from 9.5' to almost 15', my weight went from 105 lbs to 151 lbs! not to mention other dramatic gains.

Bodybuilding just brings out the real person within you so for those who are not lifting yet no matter what u look like currently you should try bodybuilding, it will revolutionalize your life, trust me.

I'm here to help other teenagers like me and hope for their (and my) best.

Text here (by Ben).
How many of you teens that are reading this are unhappy with the way you look? I mean why else would you be on this great site? :P I'd have to estimate that like 85% of teens aren't happy with the way they look! This leads to huge insecurity and sometimes depression and even eating disorders. Bodybuilding whether you are overweight, skinny or neither is the key to your looking better. You don't have to build yourself up to be the next Nasser El Sonbaty (one of my favorite pro's) but you can still look great and be toned and defined.

And how many of your friends can say they are bodybuilders? None, i bet! Starting early is very beneficial to teens and you've got no idea how much your self esteem can be improved through dedication and training.

I started bodybuilding at 15 and have fallen for the sport ever since, it's just great to look great, unfortunately I don't look as great as I used to anymore due to taking time off for medical reasons but I am starting up training this week, you can watch me in my training journal.

If you're a teen and you don't want to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars to join and gym and for supplements and the whole thing take a look at my first two or three articles dealing with training at home. You can still get great results this way!

Since this article is a bit hard to see what I'm talking about I'll sum it up in a nutshell... Bodybuilding as a teen is great fun, builds self-esteem, you improve your physique and the way you look and just feel so good about yourself as you are fit, healthy and full of happy and positive energy. If any teens would like to know more about bodybuilding in general or would like some advice, just email me at bodybuilders.com. You must be 16 years or under!! (no lying :P)

Thanks, Ben

I have added more edited info from Rockie above, but not Jay. It is difficult not to quote verbatim though because both write so well on the subject! The entries here are edited, with illustrative pics from the site resources.

Dumbell and barbell exercises with home gear. Bench press, Flying, both flat and at an angle. Front and side dumbell raises. Sit ups / crunches on flat and inclined board. Upright rowing and shrugs. Dumbell and EZ bar curls, inc seated single arm. Lying pull overs at full range. Bent over and single arm rowing. Calf raises using a heel block and weights. Squats with bar and dumbells (Weak knee joints) The pic is not cropped incidentally! Cam angle is too narrow!

Trained lightly in the 80's and 90's. None at the time the pic was taken. I intend to trim a slightly larger mid section and to boost upper body size in all areas. Age is clearly against me now. All the exercises left will be light weights only to begin with.

e.mail me direct.

Any local guys are welcome to use my home gym equipment. Can't do a pic, the cam wire is too short!

Exercise Routines

Two pages on this link.

14 Year old example (as from the "Omsk" site).

Full size Denis

The Guy in these two pics, "Potiy Denis" was 14 at the time and had trained for four years. He was one of the young Russians training at Omsk as far as I know. He appears to have good upper body build, but without seeing his legs properly it seems that he may have more work to do in that respect, judging by the calf development seen left. This could, though reflect the pose. He looks roughly like Randy (see senior pages above) is aiming for.

Bigger or simply better toned?

The use of weights can have these two effects. It is not wise for the very young (say early teens) to use heavy weight exercises without careful supervision. This is because it is important to stick very carefully to strict "form" when exercising. Also, heavy exercises are designed to pressure the body into a response, so they DO mean pushing to the limit on the last "rep". If you have no "spotter" you could find yourself in real trouble! You will clearly also be in a growth phase at puberty, which can lead to skin problems etc. with some supplements so I hear. When I was in my teens there weren't as many supplements!
