For the Quads (8,10)(thighs) Squats are most known. The heels may be raised on a wood block here to emphasise the effort. You can even do this with No weights, just your bodyweight alone. A barbell can be on your shoulders as in the pic, or under your chin. Note the use here of a "spotter". This is an absolute essential for squats as deep as in the example when the weight is near your limit. There are also frames with "catch points" where you can do this. |

Ken is on tiptoe here - That uses the calf muscles. This can be done with bodyweight, or holding dumbells or barbell at arms length. It is better to have the weight there for balance, as the tiptoe movement naturally throws the body forwards. Weight at shoulder level would emphasise this! |
The legs left belong to Ken. He was 14 when the pic was taken. He exercised each body section hard. The results are quite striking too. |
