The Siberian youths illustrated on the Omsk site would have impressed Michelangelo as examples of near classical male build.

Pictures here are set at 100%. I have also taken a liberty I guess by making comments on them. Both Sergei and Corey are serious bodybuilders. The Omsk group began really young, as you can see if you visit their archives. Gallery 2 contained life class style poses similar to the one of "David" shown left as sculpted by Michelangelo, as did the other galleries. Front views are now edited. Poses have been selected to show muscle examples and that reason only.

Competition Posing. (see galleries here)

The posed pictures are designed to show off particular sets of muscles. We all do the "double bicep" when asked to show a muscle!

Jeremy (elsewhere) is posing to show arms, chest and legs, but not his abdominal area

Sergei in both shots has almost all muscle groups flexed to show his physique. In the case of the legs, the left shows the front, the right the rear muscle groups.

Some of the poses might look a little stilted, but the aim in competition is to set up a sequence to demonstrate to the judging panel all your muscle groups. There is also a set of standard compulsory poses, often performed together to allow direct comparison of competitors in a "posedown".

There are a lot of pics of Sergei and others on the Omsk and Sportachievements pages.

Corey (below) is in "cut" condition. That means competition ready or very close to it.Pectoral segments can be seen. as can the serratus group. His abs are also clearly defined.

Corey (above) in great form! It is actually his very first posing shot!

Sergei (right) holds a pose designed to show off his cut musculature. He has a great Lat spread here and the side chest muscles tie in very nicely. Note also the serrations visible in the tensed left leg Quads.

He clearly shows a whole body approach here, with no neglect of the legs. Calves also show well. They tend to be the hardest to train in some cases if the muscle sheath is too tight or inflexible You get a lot of pain, but no gain.

This banner link leads you to a set of pages with exercises for the different muscle groups.

Shows muscle groups in diagrams and also in a labelled photo - links to exercises for each.

If you can recommend a particular exercise, please tell us about it!
